驾照
我是在国内有驾照的~所以需要上驾校的同学，驾照部分仅供参考~
一、翻译驾照
DMV网站上有个list，说哪些翻译公司是他们承认的，一定要找这样的翻译公司，不然你翻译的驾照有可能不被承认。我找的那家翻译的价格是$30。不知道别家的价格。
二、要带的东西
1、 一定要记得带SSN card 或者 ITIN（ITIN的流程我不了解，请咨询他人）
2、带护照、国内驾驶证原件、翻译件、能带的都可以带着，反正别少带，去一趟挺麻烦的。
3、务必带两件 可以证明你地址的东西，银行账单或者水电费缴费单或者信封什么的。
4、如果近视，请一定要带一个度数合适的眼镜。因为会现场让测视力，只测你的矫正视力。
5、I20最好也带着。
三、Paperwork
建议去Fair Park那家，人比较少，工作人员也比west valley那家要nice很多。
1、自然是排队。进门有个填表的地方，先填表。如果对自己的英文没有足够的自信，请自行携带电子词典或携带一名英文好的人。因为填表的时候会问你有没有什么心脏病之类的，blah，blah。正反两面，要填的不少。填好了之后排队。
2、排完队会登记你的信息，拍照，让你签名。然后给你一个号码。
3、拿着号码继续等……现在就可以坐着等了，等叫号。叫到了就是把所有东西给工作人员，然后交钱，$25。这$25可以让你笔试+路考总共考三次。
四、Written Test
有 驾照的同学是25题，30分钟，其实没人看着你是不是30分钟。记得再跟工作人员说一下你是open book，然后从他们那儿那一本2010年的handbook。工作人员会给你一张粉色的小纸条，第一行是你考试用的那台电脑的号码，第二行是之后要输入 的一个code。然后就开始做题了，不会的就翻书吧~ 80分是Pass。所以最多可以错五道题。做完了可以检查，不想检查就直接finish，然后电脑会显示你过没过，错了多少道，错的题可以看看是哪儿错 的。
五、Road Test
Written Test过了之后，工作人员会问你要不要预约road test，基本上能预约到的都是两周以后，所以可以根据自己的情况问他要不要预约。工作人员会问你某一天行不行，最好问下他是星期几，如果那天有课，可以 调一下。写着你Road test日期的那张纸，加上你的国内驾照，就是你的learner permit。Road test的时候记得带~
Road Test Tips：
1. 去DMV考试的同学请务必提前一些到，在1号台报道
2. 确定你的车有registration，有保险，什么都有，空调，车灯都是好的，虽然我考的时候没查，但是据说有人被查过。
3. 切记各种转弯，换道都要head check
4. 不要心存侥幸心理……不要觉得有些考官会不考……
5. 主要的考的有：Backing，Parallel Parking，Hill Parking（up和down分别是向左打轮和向右打轮），U-turn，Three point turn。
6. 其他附加的考试就是什么left turn，right turn，lane changes， stop sign or stop light, speed in zones. 就都是路上开着的时候顺便考的了。
7. 不管是Parallel Parking 还是 Hill Parking，都要把车熄火，挂空挡，拉手刹。
买Used car的Tips
（买新车的同学直接试驾挑颜色就好了）
是家人发来的，但是是根据当时我买车的情况给的tips~所以大家就参考下就好了~
- buy from individuals if you can, no dealer would know the history of the car.
- buy from sellers on the east side not west of I-15 best cars are from seniors, ladies, not rednecks or 老墨。
- do not negotiate prices over the phone, test drive and if you like it then negotiate at the end.
- leave some money for registration ~$150 + sales tax ~7%. You may ask the seller to write you a letter with lower sales price to save tax.
- your best bets are Toyota, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, (Subaru has more problems).
- ask to see the SAFETY AND EMISSION inspection results. If the car is currently did not pass either or not registered up to date, run - do not buy!
- ask if there was any accident to the car or anything you can tell us.
- check to see if there is damage, new paint, open the hood and trunk lids check it out yourself.
- ask for all maintenance records, TIMING BELT, oil change, etc. (most cars need timing belt every 60 to 90k miles.)
- check the tail pipe: wipe the inside, besides some smoke or little water, there should be no oil.
- check the tires, tires are expensive it could cost you ~$400-500!
- test drive and one should stand behind to see if there is smoke coming out of the tail pipe. Also to see if ALL lights are working properly.
- check out the front driving axial inside both front wheels to feel the leaking grease or when you make SHARP turns in parking lot you should not hear the da,da,da... sound - broken CV boots - $500 repair cost!.
- TEST EVERYTHING, lights, AC, radio, see if the airbags were repacked.
- if the car is not well maintained, do not buy but if it is, then be ready to pay more.
- negotiate the price at the end by saying "Hey I like the car but as a poor student I can only afford to give you $XXXX for it". Don't show you are anxious and only this car will do.
- DO NOT PAY CASH!
- ask the seller to bring the title, registration, and maintenance records to your bank with you and you ask the bank to write you a cashier's or bank check - same as cash. You exchange the check with the title.
